Write for us
Emerald Culture Guide welcomes thoughtful pitches on Irish folklore, language, customs, craft and heritage. We look for clear, original work that gives readers a well-framed way into a specific cultural subject.
What to pitch
Propose one focused subject and explain its central idea, the reader it is for and what makes your approach useful. Strong pitches ask a clear question, offer enough scope for meaningful context and avoid treating a varied tradition as a single, unchanging account.
The shape of a contribution
We welcome accessible essays, explainers, comparisons and cultural histories. Use plain language, define specialised terms and separate documented details from interpretation. Tell us what material or sources would support the piece, and flag any uncertainty or differing accounts that need careful handling.
Send a proposal
Send pitches through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and including a working title, a short outline and a few lines about your approach. Please send a proposal rather than an unsolicited complete article. A pitch is not a promise of publication, and no contributor credentials or experience should be assumed.
