Editorial policy
Emerald Culture Guide aims to make cultural subjects clear without flattening their complexity. We distinguish established information from interpretation, review wording for accuracy and correct material when we find an error.
Accuracy and context
Articles are written to explain their subject plainly and with appropriate context. We check names, terms and factual claims against suitable sources before publication, and avoid implying that a custom, belief or story represents every community or period. Where accounts differ or details remain uncertain, the wording should make that clear.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. Sponsored articles and material created with a partner are labelled clearly where they appear. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage, and partner placements are identified as such rather than presented as independent editorial recommendations.
Corrections
If you spot an error or a misleading omission, please use the Contact page and include the article title and the detail at issue. We review correction requests and update published material when warranted; significant changes should be made clear to readers.
Illustrations
Some illustrations may be AI-generated. When that is the case, they are identified as illustrations and not presented as documentary photographs or evidence of a cultural practice.
